How well do you know your neighbours? Is there someone near you that you could turn to in a crisis, or just enjoy a morning walk or cup of tea with? Too often, our busy lives can isolate us from even those who live close by. The Eldercare Foundation, in partnership with SHIFT collaborative and BC Healthy Communities, is working to change that. Once we get to know each other, we can work together to foster a greater sense of community. We’re never too old to make new friends!
Since June 2017, 47 micro-grants have been given to support neighbourhood get-togethers and projects in Esquimalt, James Bay, Vic West, Fairfield Gonzales, Burnside Gorge, Fernwood, Hillside Quadra, Saanich and View Royal.
The deadline for the next round of grants is October 31.
