StoryWalk is an established program, developed by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT along with the
Kellogg-Hubbard Library. "StoryWalk is an innovative and delightful way for children -and adults!- to enjoyreadng and the outdoors at the same time." StoryWalks have been offered in 11 countries. In BC, StoryWalksare offered monthly in Victoria, Nanaimo and on Salt Spring Island in BC. This grant allowed the program to expand to the South Cariboo region in Interior British Columbia.
A StoryWalk features a children's book, mounted page by page, throughout a park or along a trail to encourage both reading and physical literacy for kids and families. Our local project is tailored for our community with representation of Aboriginal and local authors and is a "roaming model" to best reach families.
