The Alliance post-2017

The legacy of our country’s sesquicentennial is at the forefront of our minds as we move into the second half of 2017. How do we sustain the momentum, connections, assets and impact that were created as the result of Canada’s 150th?

#ReducePoverty in Canada Youth Contest

The Government of Canada is looking for ideas from youth across the country on how we can reduce poverty in Canada. Selected individuals will have the chance to showcase their entry at a national poverty reduction conference in Ottawa on September 28, 2017.

If you know anyone in your community that would be a great fit, please share this opportunity on Facebook and Twitter, or send a link to the #ReducePoverty website. The deadline to apply is August 21.

Canada 150 Diversity Award

Applications are still being accepted for the Canada 150 Diversity Award from TIAC. This award is an opportunity to highlight the remarkable and innovative contribution by an organization that has successfully reflected diversity in its approach, tourism product, service or event, and has branded Canada as a diverse, innovative and welcoming destination for domestic and international tourists. Applications are due August 15.

The Aviva Community Fund

The Aviva Community Fund has launched a new category for Canada’s 150th anniversary – the Community Legacy program. This bold new challenge is for young social entrepreneurs who have unique solutions to tackling climate change, or ideas that will benefit Canada’s environmental legacy.

Aviva has added an additional $150,000 in funding for this project, above their usual $1 million in prize funding. Applications for this opportunity will open September 13.
